For the majority of security applications, computer workstations are as critical as the cameras or recorders. A quality workstation will keep up with switching camera feeds of live video, real-time video analytics, perform complex forensic search queries and execute, often running multiple and integrated software programs.
Controlware stocks high-performance workstations by Compulab, Acer, Lenovo and ASUS. Similar to security equipment, there’s not a one-fit-all solution, and the chosen workstation brand and specifications very much depend on the project.
Generally, we believe that workstations should provide power and performance, which translates into a multi-core CPU with simultaneous multi/hyperthreading, plenty of RAM for start-up tasks, performance graphics card, and enough hard drive space (SSD is recommended) for operational requirements. In addition, the workstation must feature effective heat dissipation mechanism to keep the computer safe and functional 24/7.

ASUS WS X299 PRO/SE
The WS X299 Pro Series features the Intel LGA 2066 ATX motherboard with DDR4 4133MHz, dual M.2 and M.2 heatsink, U.2, USB 3.1 Gen 2 connectors, ASMB9-iKVM and ASUS Control Center. ASMB9-iKVM supports remote BIOS updates, fans control, standalone KVM, video recording, and BSOD capture, providing around-the-clock remote monitoring and diagnostics through remote console (Web GUI & CLI). Compulab is a leading manufacturer of fanless IoT edge computers, gateways and computer-on-module.
